Kurzzusammenfassung (English below):
The cumulative dissertation investigated whether the digital screening tool developed by the IDEAS consortium can contribute to the detection of boys with ASD. Studies I and II , regarding children's media usage, revealed that children with ASD are familiar with digital media and can use it. Additionally, Study II found that parents were not concerned that their child's ASD symptoms would be intensified by media use. Study III therefore suggested that ASD symptoms can be identified in digital environments, as it demonstrated that boys with ASD exhibit similar behaviours in digital and real-life interactions. Finally, Study IV evaluated two digital screening tasks (emotion recognition and visual preference), achieving an accuracy rate of 81.25%. These tasks should be considered together when making decisions. Overall, the findings suggest that the digital screening tool can contribute to the detection of boys with ASD, as it can differentiate between boys with and without ASD.
